Dr. Hamrick earned her Bachelors of Arts and Masters of Arts degrees in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from Hampton University and her Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology with highest honors from Nova Southeastern University. She has worked with children and adults with language deficits, articulation disorders, aphasia, voice disorders, cognitive deficits, developmental delays, autism and various communication and swallowing deficits. She has provided speech evaluations and treatment to typically developing children and adults of all ages as well as those with intellectual disabilities and behavioral health problems. Her flexible and client-centered approach to enhancing communication and swallowing skills has facilitated measurable progress for her clients. She has experience working in early intervention, home health, long-term care, nursing facilities, skilled care, behavioral health hospitals and acute and long-term psychiatric settings.
Dr. Hamrick has served as clinical site supervisor to SLP students and is dedicated to educating students, nurses, medical professionals, support personnel, and families about dysphagia (difficulty swallowing). She has spent the past 12 years training and developing educational content to enhance knowledge and understanding of how to safely manage individuals with dysphagia.
She is fortunate to reside in the community she serves with her husband and two children. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends and mentoring future speech-language pathologists.
